Entry Requirements for Morocco

 

You must have a passport valid for at least 6 months at the entry date to Morocco. No visas are required from most countries. Check out your local country requirements for more details or view this link:

Required Travel Insurance

 

Our company requires that you have travel insurance to cover all your adventure activities, including emergency airlift insurance and medical insurance. Contact your insurance company to understand your coverage. Some policies do not include adventure travel or air transportation in case of unexpected emergencies. Please bring a copy of your policy as proof of coverage will be required to participate on the trip.

 

Health and Safety

 

Vaccinations are not required to enter Morocco, but it is recommended vaccinations for typhoid, hepatitis, tetanus and polio. For more advice please visit your doctor. Almost all Moroccans are friendly and honest. Violent crime is very rare, however, it is wise to be careful anywhere.

 

Climate

 

The climate in Morocco varies according to the area, the altitude and the seasons. Generally the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts enjoy a mild climate in winter and hot summers cooled down by the ocean and sea breezes. In the north west of Morocco the winters are usually wet and rainy, but in the south of High Atlas and interior cold and sunny most of the time. It gives snow in winter over than 2400m altitude. The Sahara is sunny and cold in winter, while summer is everywhere hot and dry in Morocco. Temperatures can reach up to 40 C? exception the High Atlas and the coasts.

Getting Around by Train, Taxi and Bus


Trains are comfortable and efficient. The network of ONCF (National Office for Railways of Morocco) goes as far south as Marrakech and links with Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Fez, Meknes and Oujda. First and second-class carriages are air-conditioned. Tickets may be purchased at the station. Check this website www.oncf.ma for more details.

 

Taxis are usually Mercedes Benz cars and operate over a wide variety of routes.  They are much quicker than a bus and fares are very reasonable.  Taxi stations can be found in each urban center and the taxi will leave when it has reached the quota of six passenger fares.

 

Bus travel is cheaper than taking a taxi and many companies offer good service across the country.  Check the web sites of these two big companies for more details:

Money and Currency

 

The Currency of Morocco is the Dirham (MAD). It cannot be converted outside the Kingdom's borders. The importation and exportation of Moroccan currency is forbidden. You can exchange your money at the airport, most hotels, banks and in every urban center. ATM machines are available only in large cities (Visa/Mastercard/Switchcard/Cirrus). Traveler’s checks are not highly recommended for travel within Morocco.

Electricity and Phone

 

The Moroccan network uses 220 V. The socket outlets are of European type. International adaptors are very hard to find within the country, so bring your own.

 

Private e Teleboutiques are found within every village, town and city. You can make local and international calls from Morocco, though you will need a stack of coins. Card-operated public phones are scattered everywhere.
